Chocolate Cakes and Steak

The haze hadn't deterred us from having tons of fun! When I stepped into my friend, Maureen's apartment that evening, people were milling  about, blowing balloons and spamming her bedroom with helium balloons. Why?

It was MAUREEN'S BDAY SURPRISE!

She's an amazing woman who organised countless of awesome parties, from ladies' night to an open top party bus. She gifted me a really, really yummy cake and stripper too for my birthday! It was only fitting we do the same kind of awesome for her.

Walked into the bedroom seeing this fun chaos.
While she was out salsa-ing, we inflated balloons with helium and decorated her bedroom with them.
A melting pot of nationalities in this photo: Derek from America, Cyril from France, Jing from Malaysia, Kai from France, Julian from Sri Lanka and Sabrina from Singapore!
Brunetti cakes are to die for. Heavy on the chocolate, ain't good for my savoury buds.
Disagreement about how many candles we should stick on the cake.
 More arguing..

Birthday Girl, just seconds after being dunked!
She looked incredibly happy in a tub filled with suds, jelly and other creepy crawlies!
 Team DUNK MAUREEN INTO TUB!
The other half of the team.

Saturday was spent with le family, having steak at Le Steak at Chef Amri's. My aunt recommended it, and despite the 'mix up of orders and waiting a long time for food to arrive', we decided to check it out. AND, we weren't disappointed. Thankfully.

Appetiser: Half a dozen of oysters ($22)
It was mum and dad's first experience with raw oyster. Verdict: They won't skip out on it at the next buffet with oysters. :D

Main course: Sirloin Steak ($14)

The steak was excellent, considering the price. I liked my steak with a little bit of fats on the side for the yummy flavour, hence I chose the sirloin cut. The grilled vegetables were the most delicious I've ever tasted. I don't normally eat zucchini, but the grilled vegetable was done so well, I cleared it all. The mash potato came with no gravy, but was flavourful enough on its own. Overall, a satisfying meal.

Dessert: Creme Brulee

It was oh so damn delicious! And we got it for free too, because of reasons. HAHA. But it was creamy, so sweet it gave me the tingles and delicious. My parents and I took turns biting into that orange fruit on top. Didn't like it. It was like a cross between tomatoes and cherries. Bleh.

The habit of taking photos of food spans across generations.

Sunday was spent at Rindo's place, watching Snatch and Kick Ass. Christos made some chicken and potato roast, and though he warned that it might be a fail, everyone cleared the tray at such an alarmingly fast rate. It was hilarious. Hunger makes people do the craziest things.

We parked ourselves at the beer garden again that evening. Excellent weather, and the crowd was way bigger. We celebrated Jasmin's '63th' birthday with cake, drinks and laughter. Great end to the week!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAUREEN HAINES!
